Double-page recap because FUCK man, my schedule as of lately. Shit has been bananas, all kinds.

We open up with Sanji doing what Sanji does best- pies and hanging with squirrels. That CAN’T be sanitary, just saying.

We then move on to Caribou doing what HE does best- be a generally terrifying bastard! Currently he’s busying himself with letting his brother dig a grave for the fake Strawhats, who have all been captured by him save for Demalo Black and the fake!Robin that was taken by the rebels. We find out that Caribou just planned to kill the Strawhats from the inside out once he infiltrated them, and then … well, lets just say that ”nobody dies in One Piece” can be considered to be officially over.

He wants to get inside you

Fake!Sopp tries to save his friend by shooting Caribou, but the bullet passes right through him! It appears that not only is Caribou a bonafide psycho, but he’s also a Logia-using psycho. Peachy. He babbles on about how God won’t forgive them and licks his own cowlick, and just about generally manages to freak me the hell out.

Back at grove 46 Sentomaru reports back to an unseen superior- he explains that he couldn’t possibly hope to defeat Rayleigh who barred their way as he could keep even Kizaru at bay (meaning Kizaru is at least still an admiral), and telling them that the only escapees were the Caribou brothers and the fake!Hats. And we know how well that worked out for them… he also reports that the Pacifista that Luffy and co beat up were old prototypes from two years ago, marvelling at how strong they’ve grown in two years and telling the superior that they better get cracking on warning the world that the Strawhats are back in action!... although, this does mean that there are OTHER Pacifista out there with superior tech and far more advanced capabilities. I have a feeling that when he’s patched up, Kuma will be one of them…

We then switch view to Rayleigh and Shyakky, watching the water where Luffy and co went under. And then, Rayleigh starts to reminiscence of another young upstart who he met one day for a long, long time ago...

Man what is that even

A strawhat those are for wimps get out

…. Daaaayyyyyyuuuumm.

Rayleigh pontificates some about destiny, and idly states that he would like to live a little bit longer now. And Hat... well, only Hat knows what Hat is planning. And seven fathoms (and probably more) below, the Strawhat crew are gazing out at the wonders one can find under the sea…

Zoros been drinking haterade

…Excluding Zoro who just HAS to be the partypooper among us. But it’s at least better than being a bubble popper, as captain and Zoro are, well…

And Luffys hitting the Dumberade

Captain and Zoro. Sanji, ever the mature individual, asks Nami to tell them about the coating so they know what not to do, and this happens.

Jelly dont jiggle like that

Oh Sanji. Sanji demonstrates that the bubble can be breached without breaking as he rockets right out and is pulled back by Luffy. The crew than gathers round and an amazing panel happens.

Franky what are you even doing

I think my favorite part are the multiple blood bags. I have a feeling they’re Zoros and that Sanji is going to need a LOT of them. Nami goes on to explain that the occasional object going in and out wont burst the bubble, a cannon or a gun can easily be fired, being bitted by a sea king with like a hundred teeth, crashing against the ground or if some large part of the ship such as a broken off mast pierces it, well. They’re goners. All this while two ENORMOUS sea kings fight outside scaring poor Chopper senseless. Oh, and this little gem too.

Usopps a Munch-fan

However, that’s enough of the fun times. Time to talk serious business. Franky reveals that the reason they’re diving blind and without the aid of Hachi, is that he too was wounded defending the Sunny. But if both Duval and Hachi were taken out of commission, then… who defended it for all these years?

GARest cyborg EVER

Upon Frankys return, the original Kuma simply gets up and leaves. Franky tells us about how Kuma revealed himself as one of the Revolutionary leaders to Rayleigh, and then tells them on how he was a guinea pig for the World Government Pacifista experiments. His last request to the ever elusive doctor Vegapunk was to have his body guard the Sunny until a Strawhat appeared to take care of it, which the doctor for some reason honored. The crew reacts with confusion as to why Kuma would do such a thing, save Robin who seems to know more about Kuma than she’s letting on. In Frankys mind, Kuma is their saviour- the one who gave them the two years they needed to find the strength to survive in the New World! Sanji who has woken up by now is of a VERY different opinion, as he vents on where that heartless robobear bastard sent HIM.

But there is no time for reminiscing yet- behind the Strawhats is a ship carrying the Caribou brothers, readying themselves to board…

Oh man you guys this color spread. THIS WONDERFUL COLOR SPREAD. It is made from rainbows and kittens (literally) and everything that is good. I don’t even know what they’re walking on or why Franky picked that color scheme for his arms, I just know that they’re the whole crew and they’re walking and things are so awesome.

Under the seeaaa

Under the sea, things are also awesome and Brook makes me tear up a little. We then switch to the Super Caribou bros who eagerly plan the coming slaughter as they goad their ship, pulled by some sort of sea monster, to charge the Strawhats! They board through the bubble, Caribou first! A vicious battle is sure to follow! A clash of nautical ti…

Flashback time!

… tans…

Flashback over

Time to RUN

…. Nnneever mind. After some begging and pleading and facekicking and Sanji-nosebleeds, Caribou reveals they captured the sea cow because having such a beast pull your ship is an advanced and very helpful way of getting where you want to go underwater, which gives Luffy ideas…

Ropeplay is funplay!

… Which don’t have anything to do with that panel, I just like the image of Luffy poking a psycho killer with a stick.

Welp time for my-

DAMMIT CHOPPER GAGS ARE ALL I HAVE NOW

Poor Brook- even Chopper is getting wise to his antics. What then follows is a LONG talk of sea science from Nami, Brook and Franky as they are the ones most knowledgeable about such things, which basically boils down to this- the current they’re currently riding will take them to a so called ’deep sea’ current, a slow moving current running along the lower levels of the ocean that will presumable guide them to Fishman Island. In order to find the right spot where they can go down, they must ride along the Red Line, which is basically a series of interconnected islands with different weather like we’ve seen earlier in One Piece. So once they find a cold island the water will get cold enough to create a high enough salinity to push the ship down to the right current. It’s a lot of science talk and big words, prompting the expected reactions from the majority of the younger part of the crew.

A hotbed for intellectual activity

Worth noting is that Nami actually predicted this outcome, yet she hoped against hope that at least Chopper and Usopp would be willing to listen. Oh Nami. They eventually hit upon the right path as they see a HUGE waterfall under water, which they will ride all the way down to the proper level! Everything seems set to go until Caribou yells to them that they must turn away! For waiting below the waterfall is a legendary beast that has made this particular place its hunting grounds…

BILL NIGHY WHERE ARE YOU

Who apparently DIDN’T die in At Worlds End, he just got a new job in One Piece! So, what is Luffys reaction to a gigantic, all-devouring, terrifying manytentacled beast of the depths?

I ain't no Orlando Bloom-wuss!

Oh captain. Never change.
