So, here is where you go to ask me questions regarding my headcanon for my characters, if there are any to be had! I play Brook, Faust, Jak and Vincent Valentine.
OH OH LATE but I thought of a question for Vincent that... may not require a totally emo response!
So I was rewatching Advent Children and I noticed that Marlene seemed comfortable with Vincent - completely not intimidated and even criticizing him for not having a phone. And then when he showed up again to fight Bahamut, the first words out of his mouth were "Where can I buy a phone?" so I think he actually listened to what she said.
Any story behind that, or do you think Marlene is just taking her cues from Barret?
Part of it is nothing but MANLY DETERMINATION TO RETAIN THE MOST FABULOUS HAIR IN THE GRAND LINE. Because he was in the Florian Triangle for FIFTY YEARS without haircare products, and to have your hair remain pristine during those conditions can only be prescribed to superhuman willpower.
In camp however, he usually mooches haircare products off of whomever he's happening to be charming that time! Mia Fey once gave him an oil for managing all the knots he must get in it, and he treasures it like few other things!
There is of course also the fact that his hair isn't actually growing anymore, and therefore does not get very tangled up unless he's actively putting it in danger, so... mostly it's just careful care, but not too much of it, and keeping it out of harm's way!
EDIT: Also don't be afraid of emo and sadness-causing questions! Brook isn't!
First of all: Vincent Valentine either has terrible priorities, or he's just so cool that a giant laserdragon trying to blow the crap out of the city is just not as important as satisfying a little girl's random wish.
The way I imagine it, is that Vincent just finds the idea of a cellphone... maybe not appealing, but sensible. Sometimes, it's just a good idea to be able to contact and be contacted by people no matter where you are, and he acknowledges that. But as to the reason he asks for a cellphone before asking people if they're okay or SO HEY WHAT ABOUT THAT DRAGON HUH... god. I couldn't say. I cannot believe that he was just making a wry kind of joke-ish statement, like "huh, so there's a laserdragon, so does anyone of you guys know where I can buy a phone? Anyone?" But... nothing else I think about makes sense.
So in short: he wanted to buy a phone, and made a dry joke from it.
And regarding Marlene, well, he's obviously topped by tiny adorable children. In his own, deeply dumb kind of way.
