Apr. 17th, 2011 05:24 pmWe open up with… an image from Syrup Island! Usopp’s pirate crew are apparently eleven now but look like they’re in their early teens, and I can already hear the baying of the shota-fans- their dark hungers have been well-sated, for now.
Now for something less traumatizing. Fishman Island, 16 years ago. A shopkeeper calls out in distress after a thief that’s taken his money AND a young hostage, when suddenly none other than Otohime herself dashes in and shows us all just why she’s the BOSS, oh yeah!

That’s right bitches, she’s the queen and don’t you…

… forget…

… it…

Welp. Leave it to Oda to create not just a beloved and kind queen that is not just awesome, but hilarious too boot. The gist of Otohime’s deal is that she has the Haki of Observation, which lets her empathize and feel with her people to such a degree that she can’t stand to make speeches from afar where she can’t feel the audiences reaction, ”absence makes the heart grow colder” and all that jazz. Apparently Otohime is trying to drum up support among the merpeople to actually move away from Fishman Island and take up a position above dry land (which sounds kind of stupid to me but what do I know), but the majority are hesitant to go through with such a major change in their lives. But Otohime has no intentions of changing her tune anytime soon, wishing to create a fair world for her childrOH MY GOD-

All I can say is that I damn well HOPE that merpeople have kids the same way actual fish do, because if she CARRIED Shirahoshi inside her? Forget Rogue’s 20-month pregnancy, that shit was for PUSSIES (literally even), Otohime squeezed out a sproglet TWICE HER OWN GODDAMN SIZE.
Okay- moving on from that particular piece of crazy OH MY GOD VANDER DECKEN FIRST SAW SHIRAHOSHI ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO CURRENT TIME THAT MEANS HE FELL IN LOVE WITH SHIRAHOSHI WHEN SHE WAS LIKE SIX YEARS OLD AAAAAAGH-

… Moving on from THAT particular piece of crazy, Neptune discusses with the Minister of the Left about how Otohime is apparently not the first one to attempt a world of co-existence, but the last time someone tried doing that it ended in failure… we then cut to Fishman District, where a familiar face is stirring up trouble.

Arlong, model younger and sporting one swanky piece of headwear. The ammo-knight calls out to his boss, and wouldn’t you know it-

Jinbe, model younger, was a soldier in the royal army! Not one with any kind of faith in Otohimes plans from the looks of things, but enough sense in his body to tell Arlong to stop being a douchebag to his fellow underwatermen. And shortly after they start yapping at each other, who appears if not Fisher Tiger-

With a shirt that is far too hilarious for it’s own good. We then cut to a flashback sequence that tells us that the Fishman District was at first a giant orphanage to care for little orphan fishbabies, but that it was so mismanaged that corruption eventually turned it into the breeding ground for criminals and troublemakers extra-ordinaire. Both Fisher Tiger, Jinbe, Arlong and Marco (kidnapper fishman who took Keimi in that chapter after Thriller Bark) grew up in that district and then went their own ways… until they find out that Fisher Tiger has become a wanted criminal by the World Government for his attack against the Tenryuubito! And no sooner than you can say ”She sells seashells by the seashore” have the old guard joined together again under Fisher-

And sail out to take on the world!
Welp- most interesting thing about this chapter was Shirahoshi, as it seems like the final splash page was all about things we already pretty much knew. The part with Fisher seemed kind of rushed, and I hope the next chapter will start to actually delve into the story of what happened with him and what split apart the Sun Pirates… and of course, how Otohime met her tragic demise. Seriously she’s in this chapter like six pages and she’s still the most awesome thing about it.
Also this-

-Is something I really don’t know what to think about.
