Jun. 29th, 2010 12:28 amMy apologies for this being late- getting home from vacation also meant having to take care of the house, and THAT can soak up a whole lotta time, let me tell you what… anyhow on to the next chapter!
We open up with Sadi-chan and Domino havin’ a burger with an orangutan magician dude… thing. Yeah I have no idea what’s up with this cover.
We then move on to this.

Oh boys- that’s… one way to show affection. One way. Ace tries to make small talk, but Luffy won’t have it. He’s got something to say.

When Luffy asks Ace not to die, Ace responds with another lovetap and tells Luffy that OF COURSE he won’t die, he promised Sabo AND Luffy after all! Yes. I’m just gonna move on. Ace says that though he doesn’t know what killed Sabo, his desire to be free and the worlds refusal to grant him that freedom had to play a part in it. So then and there, Ace makes Luffy promise him one thing: that they who are still alive will all set sail and wage war on the world that would impose on their freedom. That on their 17th birthday (because Sabo once told them that Nobles are apparently initiated into nobledom at their 18th birthday, which meant he planned to escape when he was 17) they too shall venture forth into the world and find their own freedom… as pirates.
We then cut to ”elsewhere”… or more to the point, the night after the Celestial Dragons ship arrived in Goa Kingdom, where we see CAMEO:

Anyhow, we see Dragon making harbor for the night, stocking up with rations from the town dojo (oho!) and… tending to someone with ”horrible wounds”… oho. The stop is a short one as Dragon immediately sets a course for ”Baltigo”, wherever that may be…
Months later we return to Goa to find everything the same as it always were. The World Governments inspection has passed, trash is once again dumped outside the kingdoms walls and Ace and Luffy are training diligently: Luffy finally starting to get the hang off Gomu Gomu no Pistol… sort of. They have even progressed to the point where they can make light of Sabos death while still hearing his voice, which is… disconcerting I guess, but hey: they’re not angsting!

We then cut to Dadan reading a proclamation that Ace and Luffy have created independent countries that they’ll live in from now on, in order to get strong enough to make it on their own. Oh those lovely rascals. Luffy then gets seriously injured while fighting a bear on his own because Ace refuses to help (at first) since they were supposed to make it on their own. Oh those… lovely rascals.
Ace then learns proper manners from Makino because he wants to greet Shanks properly when they eventually meet, which leads to Ace and Luffy finally learning to say ”thank you for the meal”… to the restaurant owners they steal food from. The two fight, grow, fight, lose, win and in the end… it’s Ace’s time to leave. Sporting a vest that he apparently loses sometime later on, Ace is sent of by Luffy, the village and Dadans gang sans Dadan. She’s busy with important stuff. Hanging out in the hideout. She didn’t want to see Ace ANYWAY-

Oh Dadan.
And as Luffy keeps on training, he eventually reaches the age where HE leaves the village, and-

Oh Dadan.
Refusing a ship and any sort of help whatsoever, Luffy knocks out the lord of the sea off-panel and sets out… to fulfill his dream!
A dream that when we return to the present, seems further away than it ever has been before. And so we leave our captain, eagerly awaiting the return to the present and the arrival of whatever the future holds in store…
